Student Profile: Melanie
Owens
Why did you choose Biomedical Engineering at Melbourne
University?
"I chose to study Biomedical Engineering because I
am interested in human anatomy, how it functions and
ways to improve faulty or incapable joints etc.
I am enjoying the introduction to the many different
areas in Biomedical Engineering and how they are involved
in every day life.
I think a good engineering student is someone who
is interested in maths and science, and also enjoys
thinking about the functionality of objects and how
they could be improved.
Upon completion of the course I hope to use my engineering
qualification to work on improving prosthetics, making
them more lightweight and durable and also, improving
replacement joints and replacement cartilage."
